All garments are dispatched via Australia Post Express Post, with a prepaid return satchel and label included in every rental.

Express Post next business day delivery is only guaranteed within the Express Post network (approx. 80% of Australian addresses — metro capital cities and major centres). Outside this network, transit times vary by location.

Planning your booking? If you are outside NSW metro, or in a regional, rural or territory location, we strongly recommend a minimum 8-day booking window — meaning your garment should arrive at least 8 days before your event. Customers in remote WA, NT, Far North QLD and outback areas should allow additional time beyond this.

Terms & Conditions of Rental

A registered business of Legacy Arc  |  ACN/ABN 698 491 600
Last updated: June 2026

Welcome to Our Closet.

We believe every occasion deserves a moment worth remembering — and the perfect dress to mark it. Our Closet Collective was created to make beautiful, curated formal wear accessible, sustainable and joyful, without the commitment of ownership.

These Terms & Conditions are here to ensure that every rental experience — for you and for the customers who wear these pieces after you — is as seamless as possible. We ask that you take a moment to read them carefully before placing your booking.

If you have any questions, we are always happy to help. Reach out to us before you book — we would love to hear from you.

Clause 01

General

Our Closet Collective (ourcloset.com.au) is a curated dress rental business offering formal wear for temporary hire, operating at ourcloset.com.au. Our Closet Collective is a registered business of Legacy Arc (ACN/ABN 698 491 600).

All garments remain the sole property of Our Closet Collective at all times.

Customers are renting the right to wear a garment for a specified rental period only.

Our Closet Collective reserves the right to amend these Terms & Conditions at any time. Updated Terms will be published on our website and will apply to bookings made after the date of publication.

Clause 02

Customer Eligibility

Customers must be at least 18 years of age to enter into a rental agreement.

Customers under the age of 18 must have a parent or legal guardian complete the booking on their behalf and accept these Terms & Conditions.

Our Closet Collective may request proof of age at any time. Where required, customers or their parent/guardian may be asked to upload a valid form of government-issued identification through the booking portal. Our Closet Collective reserves the right to cancel a booking where age verification cannot be confirmed.

Clause 03

Rental Period

Our Closet Collective offers rental periods as displayed on ourcloset.com.au at the time of booking.

The rental period commences on the date the garment is delivered to the customer.

The rental period concludes when the garment has been lodged for return in accordance with these Terms & Conditions.

Customers are responsible for selecting rental dates that allow sufficient time before their event. Our Closet Collective recommends selecting a delivery date that provides a minimum one-day buffer before the event date.

Clause 04

Security Bond

A refundable security bond is required for all rentals. Bond amounts are determined by collection category:

Standard

$100

Premium

$150

The Vault

$250

The bond is held as security against late returns, damage, excessive cleaning requirements, loss, non-return, repair costs, replacement costs and other breaches of these Terms & Conditions.

Security bonds are typically released within five (5) business days following return and inspection of the garment, and in any event within fourteen (14) business days of return.

Where damage assessment, professional cleaning, repair quotations or replacement valuations are required, bond release may be delayed. Our Closet Collective will notify the customer of any delay and provide an estimated timeframe for resolution. Bond release will occur within fourteen (14) business days of completion of any required assessment.

Clause 05

Garment Inspection on Delivery

Customers must inspect their garment immediately upon delivery.

Any concerns relating to damage, incorrect size, incorrect garment, manufacturing faults or significant discrepancies must be reported to Our Closet Collective within twelve (12) hours of delivery and prior to the garment being worn.

Failure to notify Our Closet Collective within this timeframe will be deemed acceptance of the garment in its delivered condition.

Clause 06

Garment Substitution

In the event that a booked garment becomes unavailable due to damage sustained during a prior rental, loss in transit or any other circumstance beyond the customer's control, Our Closet Collective will endeavour to contact the customer immediately.

In such circumstances, Our Closet Collective will offer one of the following at its discretion:

  • A suitable substitute garment of equivalent or greater value; or
  • A full store credit to the value of the original rental, valid for twelve (12) months.

Our Closet Collective will make every reasonable effort to provide a substitute garment in time for the customer's event. Where a suitable substitute cannot be sourced and a store credit is issued, Our Closet Collective's liability shall not exceed the rental fee paid.

No further compensation will be payable in connection with a garment substitution or unavailability.

Clause 07

Fit, Size & Colour Disclaimer

Customers are responsible for reviewing all garment information prior to booking, including measurements, size guides, fabric composition, product descriptions, colour descriptions and garment photographs.

While every effort is made to accurately represent garments, colours may vary due to photography, lighting, monitor settings and device displays.

Our Closet Collective strongly recommends customers utilise the Try-On Service prior to booking, particularly for school formals, weddings, black-tie events, first-time customers, and structured or fitted garments.

Our Closet Collective does not guarantee fit. Refunds, credits or exchanges will not be provided due to incorrect size selection, fit preference, colour variation, change of mind, weight fluctuation, body shape changes, personal styling preferences, event cancellation or personal circumstances.

Clause 08

Shipping & Delivery

Our Closet Collective dispatches all garments via Australia Post Express Post. Express Post postage for both delivery and return is included in every rental.

Express Post Network & Delivery Timeframes

Australia Post's Express Post next business day delivery guarantee applies only within the Express Post network, which covers approximately 80% of Australian addresses. This network includes metro areas of Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Hobart, Launceston and Canberra. It does not include Darwin, and for Perth, next business day delivery applies to the CBD only.

Outside of the Express Post network — including all regional, rural, remote and territory locations — garments are dispatched as quickly as possible using available transport links, but next business day delivery cannot be guaranteed. Delivery timeframes in these areas may extend from two to fifteen business days depending on location.

A full breakdown of estimated delivery timeframes and recommended booking windows by state, territory and region is available on our website at ourcloset.com.au/pages/shipping-and-delivery. Customers are responsible for reviewing this information prior to selecting their booking dates.

8-Day Booking Window Recommendation

For all customers outside of NSW metro, and for all customers in regional, rural, remote and territory locations, Our Closet Collective strongly recommends selecting a minimum 8-day booking window. This means the selected delivery date should fall at least 8 days before the event date, allowing sufficient time for transit, any unforeseen delays, and a buffer before the occasion.

Customers in remote Western Australia, the Northern Territory, Far North Queensland and outback locations are particularly advised to allow additional time beyond the 8-day minimum. Customers are encouraged to use the Australia Post Delivery Calculator to check estimated delivery times for their specific postcode before confirming a booking.

Additional Postage Charges

For parcels up to 5kg, Australia Post Express Post applies a flat national rate regardless of destination. The return satchel and label included with every rental are sized and priced accordingly.

Where a garment or packaging exceeds 5kg, zone-based postage pricing applies and additional charges may be incurred depending on the customer's destination. Where applicable, any additional postage charges will be communicated to the customer at the time of checkout prior to payment being processed.

Delivery Delays

Delivery dates are estimates only. Our Closet Collective is not responsible for delays caused by Australia Post, courier providers, weather events, natural disasters, industrial action, incorrect delivery information provided by the customer, or events beyond our reasonable control. No compensation will be payable for delivery delays outside Our Closet Collective's reasonable control.

Clause 09

Returns

Every rental includes a prepaid return label and return satchel. Customers must:

  • Place the garment in the supplied return satchel
  • Attach the supplied return label
  • Lodge the parcel over the counter at Australia Post
  • Obtain and retain proof of lodgement

Return Deadline

Garments must be lodged before 12:00pm (midday) on the scheduled return date.

Weekends & Public Holidays

If the scheduled return date falls on a Sunday or an Australian public holiday where Australia Post retail outlets are closed, the return deadline automatically moves to the next available business day. The garment must then be lodged over the counter before 12:00pm (midday) on that business day.

Proof of Lodgement

Customers must retain their Australia Post lodgement receipt until their security bond has been refunded. Proof of lodgement may be requested by Our Closet Collective at any time.

Parcels placed in street posting boxes, parcel lockers or unattended collection points do not constitute valid proof of return.

Clause 10

Late Returns

Late fees apply as follows:

  • Standard & Premium Collections: $50 per day, per garment
  • Vault Collection: $100 per day, per garment

Late fees commence immediately after the return deadline and continue until the garment is returned or deemed permanently unreturned.

Where a late return affects a confirmed future booking, Our Closet Collective reserves the right to recover lost rental income, customer compensation costs, additional freight expenses and associated administrative costs.

Late fees may be deducted from the security bond.

Clause 11

Cleaning

Cleaning is included in every rental. Customers must not wash, dry clean, steam, spot clean or attempt stain removal on garments, and must not use home cleaning products of any kind.

Normal wear is expected. Any damage resulting from unauthorised cleaning attempts may result in repair or replacement charges.

Clause 12

Damage

Customers are responsible for maintaining the garment in the condition received.

Damage includes but is not limited to: rips, tears, fabric pulls, snags, burns, broken zippers, missing embellishments, alterations, permanent staining, water damage and fabric damage.

Spray Tan & Cosmetic Products

Customers must take particular care when wearing spray tan, self-tanning products, bronzers, makeup, perfume, body oils or hair products. Any staining caused by these products may result in cleaning, repair or replacement charges.

Where damage cannot be repaired, replacement charges reflecting current retail value may apply.

Clause 13

Alterations

Garments must not be altered under any circumstances. This includes pinning, hemming, cutting, tailoring, resizing, fabric modification or any temporary or permanent alteration.

Unauthorised alterations may result in repair or replacement charges.

Clause 14

Fashion Tape & Adhesives

Customers must not apply fashion tape, body tape, garment glue, adhesive products, sticky inserts or similar products directly to garments. Any resulting damage may incur repair or replacement costs.

Clause 15

Loss or Non-Return

Where a garment is lost, destroyed, stolen, not returned or permanently damaged, the customer will be liable for the replacement value of the garment. Replacement value may include current retail value, import costs, shipping costs, alteration costs and replacement sourcing costs.

Where a garment has not been returned within fourteen (14) days of the scheduled return date, Our Closet Collective may deem the garment permanently unreturned and apply replacement charges accordingly.

Clause 16

Lost Future Revenue

Where a garment is returned late, damaged, excessively soiled or altered, resulting in the cancellation of a future confirmed booking, Our Closet Collective reserves the right to recover associated loss of rental income and related costs.

Clause 17

Vault Collection

The Vault Collection contains premium, limited-release and hard-to-replace garments. The following additional conditions apply to all Vault rentals:

  • $250 security bond
  • $100 daily late fee
  • Enhanced garment inspection procedures on return
  • Additional replacement costs where applicable

Our Closet Collective reserves the right to request identification and/or decline Vault bookings at its discretion.

Clause 18

Try-On Service

The Try-On Service is available to assist customers in determining fit, colour and style suitability prior to confirming a rental booking.

Try-On Fees

  • First garment: $65
  • Second garment: $45

A $20 credit will be applied toward the hire fee if a rental booking for the same garment is confirmed within five (5) days of the Try-On appointment.

Try-On Conditions

Try-On garments are supplied for a maximum period of twenty-four (24) hours. Rental bookings always take priority over Try-On requests and availability cannot be guaranteed.

Our Closet Collective reserves the right to delay, decline or substitute an alternative garment for any Try-On request.

Try-On fees are non-refundable. A Try-On appointment does not reserve the garment for future rental.

Clause 19

Cancellations

The following cancellation policy applies to all rental bookings:

Timing Credit Issued
More than 21 days before dispatch 100% store credit
14–21 days before dispatch 75% store credit
7–13 days before dispatch 50% store credit
Less than 7 days before dispatch No refund or credit

Once a garment has been dispatched, no refund or credit will be provided. Store credits remain valid for twelve (12) months from the date of issue.

Clause 20

Event Cancellations

Event cancellation, postponement, venue changes, illness, travel disruption or personal circumstances do not entitle customers to a refund or store credit outside of the cancellation policy set out in Clause 19.

Clause 21

Social Media & Marketing

Customers who tag @ourcloset.com.au or @ourclosetaus, or share content featuring Our Closet Collective garments on social media, grant Our Closet Collective a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to repost and share such content on Our Closet Collective's website (ourcloset.com.au) and official social media pages for the purpose of promoting its products and services.

This licence does not extend to paid advertising or commercial use beyond Our Closet Collective's own marketing channels without the customer's separate written consent.

Customers may request removal of their content at any time by contacting Our Closet Collective directly. Content will be removed as soon as reasonably practicable following receipt of a removal request.

Clause 22

Payment Authorisation

By placing a booking, customers authorise Our Closet Collective to charge any outstanding amounts relating to late fees, damage, repairs, replacement costs, additional cleaning and losses arising from breaches of these Terms & Conditions.

Clause 23

Right to Refuse Service

Our Closet Collective reserves the right to decline or cancel future bookings where a customer repeatedly returns garments late, returns garments in a damaged condition, provides false information, behaves in an abusive or inappropriate manner, or otherwise breaches these Terms & Conditions.

Clause 24

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Our Closet Collective shall not be liable for delivery delays, missed events, event cancellations, indirect loss, consequential loss or loss of enjoyment. Our Closet Collective's liability in connection with any rental shall not exceed the rental fee paid by the customer for that booking.

Clause 25

Dispute Resolution

In the event of a dispute arising from or in connection with these Terms & Conditions, both parties agree to attempt to resolve the matter in good faith before initiating any formal legal proceedings.

The party raising the dispute must provide written notice to the other party setting out the nature of the dispute and the outcome sought. Both parties must then make a genuine effort to resolve the dispute within fourteen (14) calendar days of receipt of that written notice.

If the dispute remains unresolved after the fourteen (14) day resolution period, either party may pursue the matter through the appropriate legal channels.

Clause 26

Force Majeure

Our Closet Collective shall not be liable for delays, interruptions or failures arising from circumstances beyond its reasonable control, including natural disasters, pandemics, severe weather events, government action, transport disruptions and postal network failures.

Clause 27

Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions are entered into between the customer and Legacy Arc (ACN/ABN 698 491 600), trading as Our Closet Collective (ourcloset.com.au). These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. Any dispute arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales, subject to the dispute resolution process set out in Clause 25.
